Coordinate Measuring Machines

LK Metrology, Hudson Heights, MI, has introduced eight bridge-type coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). The Altera SF models are designed with laboratorygrade accuracy. The CMMs offer nominal axis travels ranging from 1,000 × 1,000 × 800 mm up to 4,000 × 1,500 × 1,500 mm. Large measuring volumes enable inspection of bulky workpieces near where they are produced. Extra capacity affords more operational flexibility by allowing QC requirements to be met across a wider variety of component sizes. Friction drives with air bearings provide smooth axis movements, leading to high accuracy laser or analogue scanning, or touch-trigger probing.

Temperature Mapping

Dickson, Addison, IL, has released a mapping suite designed to streamline the identification of critical hot and cold zones and the analysis of temperature and humidity trends. It combines high-precision wireless data loggers with long-range connectivity (LoRaWAN), automated data analysis, GxP- and FDA-compliant reports, and an intuitive interface to optimize storage environment management. Each kit includes precalibrated sensors, data loggers, and a cellular gateway, and it is preconfigured and deployable in under 15 minutes without IT intervention. Optional IQ/OQ documentation and validation support is available.

Tactile Switches

Littelfuse, Rosemont, IL, has launched a series of sealed tactile switches for surface-mount technology (SMT). The IP67-rated KSC PF Series are momentary action switches designed to deliver enhanced environmental protection through a unique extended cage design that simplifies the potting process and improves long-term durability in harsh environments. The series features a compact 6.2 × 6.2 × 5.2 mm footprint, a soft actuator with positive tactile feedback, and superior protection against moisture, dust, and vibration. Extended cages enable deeper potting, improve tolerance for resin surface levels, and protect adjacent PCB components.

Micro Linear Actuator

Actuonix, Saanichton, BC Canada, has released a new line of micro linear actuators. The L8 series offers multiple stroke lengths: 10, 25, 50, 75, and 100 mm. In addition to stroke length, the actuators are available in several force and speed combinations to allow for accurate control over the motion and force. Each model is equipped with end-limit switches that shut off the unit if it reaches its maximum extension or retraction. The units are compatible with various control methods, including a DPDT switch, button kit, relay, or brushed DC motor controller.

Capacitive Touch Sensor

Capacitive touch sensors from EBE sensors + motion, Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany, function reliably even under extreme conditions. This development addresses the challenges faced by manufacturers of operating panels in medical and other applications. TCRC sensors are based on the company’s proprietary corTEC® capacitive sensor technology, a combination of hardware and intelligent signal processing that enables the reliable evaluation of touch behavior with fast response times, even in challenging electrical and mechanical environments. The touch sensors can be integrated behind robust cover materials, such as glass or plastic.

Adhesive and Coating

EpoxySet, Woonsocket, RI, has introduced an acrylated urethane for bonding and coating plastics and glass. UV-6800 is a clear, low viscosity polymer that achieves extremely high bond strength to PVC and polycarbonate as well as glass, ceramics, and metals. The bond strength achieved with the plastics is stronger than the plastics themselves. The rigid polymer, which is excellent for temperature cycling applications, offers a hard, scratch-resistant coating that resists yellowing. Its low viscosity and low cure shrinkage make it ideal for covering large and small surfaces. It is available in 3, 10, and 30 cc syringes as well as 8 oz and 1-L bottles and gallons and pails. It is nonhazardous for shipping and has a shelf life of one year at room temperature.
