Texas Instruments (Dallas, TX) has introduced the version 2.0 medical imaging software toolkit (STK), an updated and expanded collection of imaging algorithms optimized for its TMS320C64x+™ digital signal processors. The STK 2.0 enables B-mode ultrasound processing, 3D rendering, and real-time processing for optical coherence tomography (OCT). The 3D affine warp algorithm can be used for image transformations such as rotation, scaling, or shifting to enable portable real-time OBGYN visualizations and to guide needles and catheters. Optimized C64x+ software modules allow OEMs to improve coding efficiency and yield higher performance systems at lower cost and power. Full test benches provide module functionality while aiding in evaluation and development.
