What device commonly used in cardivascular procedures is believed to be named for a dentist?

The stent. The use of the word stent as a noun to describe a device used to “give shape or form to biological tissue” evolved over time and was used in non-cardiovascular fields including plastic surgery and urology before its common use as a coronary device. Charles Thomas Stent, who had developed Stent’s compounding material for dental impressions in the 1800s, may be long gone, but his name lives on in the medical field.
