With the advent of COVID-19, medical ventilators are more critical than ever. Ewellix , which manufactures linear motion and actuation solutions, is helping in the fight by providing our 100 percent duty cycle actuators for new customer projects. Medical ventilators need to continually operate for weeks or potentially months at a time; in this case 100 percent duty cycle is a necessity, along with the ability of the actuator to be programmed to fit the individual needs of the patient. In the current situation, ventilator manufacturers also need a product that is lifetime tested and ready to hit the market quickly.
Ewellix’s engineering team has worked to analyze the technical requirements provided by its customers that are looking to create a more compact system to adapt to a rapidly changing environment. The company's global technical team has evaluated all the needed requisites and worked with our factories to suggest the most appropriate solutions: the CASM 32 and CASM25 linear actuators.
The highly reliable CASM actuators are ideally suited for ventilators because of the long-life design as well as being able to perform with controlled speed and precise linear movements at 100 percent duty cycle. The company developed the product to be modular, enabling the customer to use their preferred motor and controls, or incorporate the motor versions Ewellix is most familiar with.
Ewellix CASM actuators are equipped with shaft seals to protect against contaminants and boast an IP rating of 54S. All CASM actuators are equipped with either high-quality ball screws or lead screws with low axial play and low friction. The CASM line is fully seal ed and has no requirement for relubrication.
With three manufacturing units worldwide producing the CASM 32 and CASM 25 actuators and a technical team of application engineers who have a deep understanding of the medical industry, the company says it can support companies locally and provide prototypes in a timely manner to allow the customer to test our products in new applications.
Ewellix is headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, and is owned by Triton Partners.
