Welch Allyn, Skaneateles Falls, NY, a leading global manufacturer of frontline medical products and solutions, announced Joseph Hennigan has joined the company as executive vice president and chief financial officer. He will lead the company’s global finance team.
Stryker Corporation, Kalamazoo, MI, announced the appointment of David K. Floyd to the role of Group President, Orthopaedics, effective November 15, 2012. Orthopaedics includes the company's Reconstructive, Trauma and Extremities, Joint Preservation, Orthobiologics and Performance Solutions businesses.
Respicardia, Minneapolis, MN, a developer of implantable therapies to improve respiratory and cardiovascular health, has appointed renowned cardiologist Dr. William T. Abraham, and medical device industry executive, Scott R. Ward, to its Board of Directors. Abraham is director of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine and deputy director of the Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute at The Ohio State University. Ward is president of Raymond Holdings, LLC, a firm focused on the life sciences with activities in venture capital, corporate strategy and transactional advisory services.
The National Space Biomedical Research Institute (NSBRI) has named Dr. Graham Scott as its vice president and institute associate director. Scott brings more than 30 years of scientific, military aviation, and commercial experience to NSBRI, a NASA-funded consortium of institutions studying the health risks related to long-duration spaceflight and developing countermeasures to mitigate the risks.
LUNAR, San Francisco, CA, a global design and engineering firm has appointed Doug Hiemstra as Director of Life Sciences. Hiemstra Product Development has been a leader driving growth in international medical device markets through design and innovation.
Mindray Medical International Ltd., Shenzhen, China, a developer, manufacturer, and marketer of medical devices worldwide, announced that Xu Hang has resigned from his co-chief executive officer (co-CEO) position, but will continue to serve as chairman. Li Xiting, company president and co-CEO, has been appointed as CEO and will continue to serve as president.
Expansions/Moves
Heraeus Medical Components, headquartered in Hanau, Germany, has opened a new Singapore facility. The location will support the expansion of the company’s Medical Components Division, and is focused on R&D and materials and components for the medical device industry. With this new facility, Heraeus now has 20 manufacturing facilities in Asia.
Boston Scientific Corp., Natick, MA, announced it will consolidate its Natick global headquarters into its Marlborough, MA, location, where a new global headquarters campus will be established.
NAMSA, a leading medical device research organization, continues its growth with an expansion of its state-of-the-art laboratories in Lyon, France. Increased demand for NAMSA’s biocompatibility and histopathology services has led the company to build an additional 12,000 square feet for its facility.
ConforMIS, Inc., a privately held medical device company that specializes in orthopedic implants, has relocated its headquarters to Bedford, MA. The new space, combined with its manufacturing facility in Burlington, quadruples the total square footage of the company’s existing property and will retain its facility in Burlington as a manufacturing plant.

Boston Scientific Corp., Natick, MA, a worldwide developer, manufacturer and marketer of medical devices that are used in a broad range of interventional medical specialties, has acquired Vessix Vascular, Inc., Laguna Hills, CA, which has developed a novel percutaneous radiofrequency balloon-catheter for renal denervation to treat hypertension.
Dynamic Healthcare Services, Inc. (DHS), Harrisburg, PA, announced that it acquired Evanko Respiratory, Inc., Hazleton, PA. Evanko is a full service distributor of medical products and equipment including respiratory and sleep equipment and mobility products except power wheelchairs. DHS is a regional distributor and provider of home medical equipment, respiratory therapy products and services.
MedPlast, Inc., Tempe, AZ, which provides molding, extrusion, and precision mold making services, has completed its structural alignment with United Plastics Group, Inc. (UPG), focused on industrial specialty markets. UPG’s former healthcare plants will now operate as MedPlast.
Cretex Companies, Elk River, MN, debuted the new branding for its medical group of companies — Cretex Medical. Operating under the umbrella name of Cretex Medical are: rms, rms Surgical, Meier, and JunoPacific. These companies provide a broad range of contract manufacturing solutions for implantables, non-implantables, durables, and disposables.
