The Specialty Photonics Divison of OFS Fitel (Avon, CT) has launched a new design tool for engineers that provides “at a glance” properties of a wide range of materials offered for optical fiber coatings, buffers, and cables. Materials are fated for temperature range, resistance to chemicals, abrasion, radiation, and UV light, as well as flame retardance. This tool is suitable for designing a fiber or cable for harsh equipment applications and other projects with special requirements.
