Expansions

Methods Machine Tools  , Sudbury, MA, has expanded its automation capabilities with the opening of a new Automation and Integration Center in its Charlotte, NC, facility. The center is staffed by systems integration engineers and has a full range of equipment and capabilities from customer consultation to building cells and performing run-offs. The company specializes in precision machine tools, 3D printing technology, and automation and accessories.

Proto Labs  , Maple Plain, MN, an online and technology-enabled quick-turn manufacturer, has added PolyJet technology to its industrial 3D printing capabilities. PolyJet provides product designers and engineers with the ability to manufacture elastomeric and overmolded prototypes without investing in tooling. PolyJet builds parts layer-by-layer. The machine jets out droplets of liquid photopolymers onto the build platform where they are immediately UV cured. Once the build is complete, support structures are removed, and the parts are ready without the need for additional finishing.

Freudenberg Medical  , a global developer and manufacturer of medical devices, components, and minimally invasive solutions for the medical device industry, has announced a 1,200 square meter expansion of its medical manufacturing operation in Shenzhen, China. It has added 600 square meters to its cleanroom space, which can accommodate 10 injection molding machines. Additional space has been allocated for a new tool room and warehouse operations.

Innovaccer  , a Silicon Valley-based healthcare analytics company, announced that the Mercy Accountable Care Organization  , one of the largest ACOs in Iowa, has chosen Innovaccer’s proprietary platform ‘Datashop’ to drive end-to-end value-based care initiatives in its organization.

Strand Life Sciences  , Bangalore, India, has released version 3.0 of its flagship, next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis and visualization platform, Strand NGS. The diagnostics company produces visualization-rich workflows for alignment, DNA-Seq, RNA-Seq, small RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, Methyl and MeDIP-Seq experiments.

A line of transparent post-operative dressings designed to enhance patient care was jointly introduced by Eloquest Healthcare  , Ferndale, MI, and Vancive Medical Technologies  , an Avery Dennison business in April 2017 at AORN in Boston, MA. The device just received 510(k) clearance from FDA. The new dressings, called ReliaTect™, incorporate Vancive’s BeneHold™ CHG, an adhesive technology from that comfortably secures the dressing to the skin, absorbs fluids and protects the site from external contaminants.

Hugo Sachs Elektronik Hugstetten, Germany, has released new anesthesia masks are optimally designed for use on either a mouse or a rat. These coaxial masks easily interface with a variety of filter canisters including Harvard Apparatus Fluosorber canisters and F/air canisters. The corrugated tubing allows for the expansion or contraction of the length of the circuit to fit the needs of the available workspace. They are available in single arm, dual arm, or stereotaxic models.

Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence  , North Kingstown, RI, has announced the Accelerate! Awards contest for PC-DMIS measurement software users worldwide. To enter, contestants must complete an online submission form and describe how an application challenge was solved in an innovative way. Applicants can also enter the contest by submitting an inspired idea for the future use or application of PC-DMIS. There are two categories in the PC-DMIS contest: 1) Innovative Problem solving enabling users to share their application experiences, and 2) Shaping Smart Change for users to share new ideas for future PC-DMIS enhancements. Nanobiotix  , Paris, France, has announced the expansion and acceleration of its clinical development activities, including acceleration of its head and neck cancer program. Phase I/II data will be presented at ASCO in June 2017. The company is also expanding its immuno-oncology program into patients focused on the objective of turning cold tumors into hot tumors. It will present the first clinical data from this program mid-year 2017.

Leadership

Raumedic AG  , Helmbrechts Germany, has appointed of William F. Gearhart as chief executive officer for the group’s U.S. headquarters. Gearhart will be responsible for developing the Raumedic brand in North America. He will be based in the company’s Mills River, NC, offices. The company manufactures tubing, molded parts, catheters, components, and systems for the medical device and pharmaceutical industries.

MedTech Innovator  , a medtech industry nonprofit global competition and accelerator, has added two vice presidents. Ashley McMaster joined the organization as vice president of business development and communications and Jenell Paul-Robinson has joined as vice president of clinical value and provider relations. McMaster was formerly vice president of membership and business development for AdvaMed. Paul-Robinson came from UCLA, where she worked in purchasing and materials management as a clinical procurement specialist.
