The NanoMed™ EX Compounds Foster Corporation (Putnam, CT) has introduced the NanoMed™ EX compounds with greater stiffness and without reduction in elongation, compared to the Pebax 7233 MED. The compounds are designed to bridge the gap between the Pebax TPE resin and nylon 11 in flexural modulus, a key property for cardiovascular and neurovascular catheters. They are also designed for catheter extrusion processing, where small diameters, thin walls, tight tolerances, and smooth surfaces are required.
Improving extruded components requires careful attention to a number of factors, including dimensional tolerance, material selection, and processing. Trelleborg’s Dan Sanchez provides detailed insights into each of these considerations to help you advance your device innovations while reducing costs and speeding time to market.
