Hardness Tester

L.S. Starrett, Athol, MA, has introduced two new digital Rockwell/Superficial Rockwell benchtop hardness testers with fully automated load/unload procedures and capable of providing highly accurate readings. The new Starrett Hardness Tester models 3823 and 3824 utilize a closed-loop control unit with a load cell, a DC motor, and an electronic measurement and control unit instead of traditional dead weights, enabling high accuracy measurements at all test loads up to 0.5 percent.

Steam Quality Testing

Carltex, Nyack, NY, has introduced a steam quality testing unit. The SQ1E NCG offers an automatically controlled air-cooled condenser with backlit displays designed to reduce setup and testing times. Air cooling eliminates the hassle of using cooling water, and an integral burette with push-button zeroing makes it easier to start and control testing. It is available as a stand-alone unit or bundled as part of the EN285-compliant SQ1-E Steam Quality Test Kit.

Multi-Channel AWG

Spectrum Instrumentation, Grosshansdorf, Germany, has launched a line of arbitrary waveform generators that offer 24–48 synchronous channels in a single rack unit. Ideal for multi-channel automated testing applications, the eight different variants achieve full remote control through a simple Ethernet connection to any PC or local area network (LAN). The units feature 16 bit digital-to-analog converter technology and combine this with low-noise flexible outputs, allowing them to generate almost any test signal in the DC to 60 MHz frequency range.
