Royal Philips, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, a the global leader in lighting, has launched Philips BlueControl, a clinically testedwearable medical device that uses blue LED light to control mild to moderate cases of psoriasis vulgaris.

Devon Medical Products, Inc., King of Prussia, PA, an ISO 13485 medical device manufacturer, designer, and distributor, announced that it has received FDA 510(k) clearance for its extriCARE®2400 Negative Pressure Wound Therapy pump to operate with its foam dressing kit.

Sony Medical, Park Ridge, NJ, introduced its new 27-inch surgical monitor, which Sony says is the brightest monitor on the surgical market. It comes in a digital only interface or a digital and analog interface for compatibility with a range of HD and SD imaging sources.

Covidien plc, Dublin, Ireland, announced it has received FDA 510(k) clearance for its Nellcor™ Portable SpO2 Patient Monitoring System, the only commercially available portable oximeter equipped with home care and sleep study modes and complies with IEC 60601-1-11 standards.

Helix Medical, Carpinteria, CA, a global manufacturer for the medical device industry, announced that it has received FDA registration for medical device manufacturing operations at its Baldwin Park, CA, facility.

Linear Mold & Engineering, Livonia, MI, a full-service injection mold design, engineering and manufacturing company, incorporating both traditional mold manufacturing and 3D metal printing of end-use parts and mold components, plans to expand its headquarters to make room for eight additional direct metal laser melting machines, as well as allow for expanded mold manufacturing to include CNC machining centers, EDM, and a gun drilling machine.

IBM, Armonk, NY, has opened new global headquarters for the IBM Watson Group in New York City to showcase and advance IBM Watson solutions for developers, entrepreneurs, and start-ups.

Dow Corning, a global leader in silicones, silicon-based technology and innovation, announced the opening of an expanded healthcare application center at the company’s European headquarters in Seneffe, Belgium.
