New Liquid Silicone Rubber with Primerless Adhesion to Polycarbonate


Self-adhesive liquid silicone rubbers (LSR) that bond to many plastics and metals without a primer or physical pretreatment are particularly advantageous for medical products. This flexibility means they can be used for multi-functional parts, such as hard-soft combinations, and membrane components.

This 30-minute Webinar examines a new LSR that now adheres to polycarbonate without surface treatment or a mechanical bond. This BPA-free LSR offers LIM processing advantages. It will be available in a wide range of Shore A hardness (20-70) and will be Healthcare compliant.

Norman Riley, Technical Manager II, Wacker

Norman Riley has served in technical roles for companies such as Wacker, Applied Silicone, Rhodia Inc., and Bluestar Silicones during the last three decades. He began his career with Wacker in 1984 and then rejoined the company in 2015 as Technical Manager in Silicone Rubber, responsible for providing technical service and training to silicone rubber fabricators and end-users as well as formulation and applications development for LSR and HCR. Norm attended California Lutheran University and holds a bachelor’s degree in organic chemistry.
