3D Scanning and Data Management for Medical Device Design

Bespoke medical devices have been a long-standing pain point for medical designers and patients. Traditional methods involve many steps, have long turnarounds, come at great expense, and often produce sub-optimal outcomes. This 30-minute Webinar will discuss how 3D scanning can dramatically improve these design cycles, lowering costs and delivery times while greatly improving outcomes. In addition, it will explore how to design from scan data — whether it was produced with a handheld scanner or CT — and how to harness the potential of product data management (PDM) software to streamline the many revisions, refits, and approval processes required in medical design.

Topics include:

  • An overview of the process for scanning medical components
  • How to modify the scan data for CAD and 3D printing
  • How PDM can be leveraged to automatically create patient specific archives and setup approval of files

An audience Q&A session will follow the technical presentation.
