The Weiss-Aug Group, a manufacturing partner for precision metal stamping, injection molding, and integrated component assembly, and Boulder, CO–based Lupine Labs, a development partner specializing in material science and machine automation have joined forces to create a new entity, Lupine Research.

Lupine Research will have two divisions; Research and Development led by Vice President of R&D, Alex Macpherson, PhD, and Automation, led by Vice President of Automation, John Francis. PhD. The Research and Development division offers solutions in material science utilizing a new state-of-the-art R&D lab for technology development in metal sputtering, plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO), and electroplating technologies. The automation division develops systems and AI for machine vision, with the focus of reducing labor costs and improving product quality for its customers in manufacturing.

Lupine Research’s new 7,000 sq ft site at 4665 Nautilus Court in Boulder, CO will house the R&D lab, along with expanded resources for automation development. At that facility, customers will be able to engage with the team as well as view their development and prototype activities on site.

“This new entity further expands The Weiss-Aug Group’s capabilities into a forward-thinking state-of-the-art contract manufacturer offering customers next-generation technologies combined with over 45 years of manufacturing excellence. We welcome Lupine Labs and their entire team into The Group to help deliver the future of manufacturing solutions to our customers,” says Elisabeth Weissenrieder-Bennis, executive vice president of The Weiss-Aug Group.

“We are very eager to join The Weiss-Aug Group and believe their breadth of experience in manufacturing makes them an ideal partner to expand our expertise and help deliver on the future of material science and automation in the manufacturing world,” says Alex Macpherson. “We are excited about the vertical integration and how the collaboration with the group from research ideas through to a production solution will benefit our customers in the long run,” says Francis.

Lupine Labs works with manufacturing teams to develop and build production-ready tools that push the limits of science and technology. The Weiss-Aug Group, comprised of Weiss-Aug, Weiss-Aug Life Sciences, JK Tool, Weiss-Aug Mexico, and The Diemasters is a contract manufacturing partner for custom insert injection molding, precision metal stamping, and integrated component assembly.
