The Board of Directors at Clippard Instrument Laboratory, Cincinnati, OH, has appointed William L. Clippard III as Chairman of the Board, Robert L. Clippard as Vice Chairman of the Board, and John Campbell as President, reporting to the board.

Tegra Medical, Franklin, MA, has promoted J. Mark King as its new Chief Executive Officer. Previously, he was Chief Operating Officer, overseeing the company's four facilities in Massachusetts, Mississippi, and Costa Rica.

Laser Components USA, Inc., Hudson, NH, announced the addition of Uwe Schallenberg as its new head of Production of the Optical Technologies Department.

Expansions/Moves

Varian Medical Systems is expanding operations at its X-ray products manufacturing headquarters in Salt Lake City, UT. The company makes X-ray tubes and digital imaging detectors. The expansion will increase Varian’s 341,000-square-foot facility by 120,000 feet.

COMSOL, Inc., Burlington, MA, has formed a Chinese subsidiary and opened two new offices located in Shanghai and Beijing. In addition, COMSOL has launched a new website at www.cn.comsol.com , with product descriptions translated into Chinese for the first time.

Lee Spring, Brooklyn, NY, has expanded its existing Monterrey, Mexico, manufacturing facility with an additional 15,000 square feet of space to manufacture springs and wire form products.

A new international conference, the Design for Health and Wellbeing Conference, to be held at the UK’s Nottingham Trent University, is designed to enhance links between inventors and medical professionals. Kicking off the conference will be a talk by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Technology Transfer program executive Daniel Lockney addressing how space research can help deliver major breakthroughs in medical product design.
