Lantheus Medical Imaging, Inc., North Billerica, MA, a global leader in developing, manufacturing, and distributing innovative diagnostic imaging agents, has appointed Jeffrey A. Bailey as the company’s new President, Chief Executive Officer, and a member of the Board of Directors.

Urologix, Inc., Minneapolis, MN, the leading provider of in-office benign prostatic hyperplasia therapy, announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Greg Fluet as the company's Chief Executive Officer. He has also been elected to the Company's Board of Directors. He joined Urologix as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in July 2008 and served most recently as the Company's interim CEO since November 2012.

Expansions/Moves

Visure Solutions, a market leader in Requirements Lifecycle Management, has extended its market reach into the Americas by opening of a new headquarters office in San Francisco, CA. Under the direction of VP and COO Dr. Moustapha Tadlaoui, this new US office will carry the requirements engineering solution, Visure Requirements, into both North and South America.

Mergers/Acquisitions/Collaborations

Stryker, Kalamazoo, MI, one of the world’s leading medical technology companies, has acquired Trauson, a Chinese spine-products manufacturer of 120 medical devices currently on the market.

Samsung Electronics America, Ridgefield Park, NJ, has fully acquired Danvers, MA-based start-up NeuroLogica Corporation, which manufactures portable CT scanners.

Welch Allyn, Skaneateles, NY, a leading medical diagnostic device company, has entered into a strategic collaboration and distribution agreement with EarlySense Ltd., Waltham, MA. Welch Allyn will distribute the EarlySense System, which offers clinicians in hospitals across the US the ability to identify early warning signs of patient safety risk and deterioration.

Hospira, Inc., Lake Forest, IL, a leading provider of injectable drugs and infusion technologies, and Q Core Medical, Ltd., Petach Tikva, Israel, an innovation leader in infusion delivery systems, announced that the companies have entered into a distribution agreement for Hospira to have exclusive rights to market and distribute Sapphire, a compact and lightweight infusion device system, in more than 60 key markets across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

Prent Corporation, Janesville, WI, a leading global designer and producer of custom thermoformed medical device packages, has won a 2013 WorldStar Award for a package developed for a leading international medical device maker. The awards, given out by the World Packaging Organization, honor outstanding package design innovations from across the globe. Over the past 20 years, Prent has won 14 WorldStar Awards.

Arkema, Colombes, France, which supplies MED grade Specialty Polyamides for its main product lines (Pebax® SA 01MED, Rilsan® MED, and Rilsamid® MED), that it sells exclusively in the medical devices market worldwide, has appointed Velox GmbH, Hamburg, Germany, as its exclusive distributor for medical business development in Europe. Velox is a pan-European distributor with experience in the medical segment, with expertise to handle specific medical procedures.

Israel Brain Technologies is seeking applicants for its $1 million Global B.R.A.I.N. Prize competition. The Global B.R.A.I.N (Breakthrough Research And Innovation in Neurotechnology) Prize is an international award to be granted to an individual, group or organization for a recent breakthrough in the field of brain technology.
