A nonlinear static analysis of a medical implant. The analysis involves large displacements and rotations with a nonlinear material and surface contact. The analysis is highly challenging as the contact involves a large sliding motion with an increasing contact force. Additionally, the frictional forces increase as the part moves down and the contact surface area is changing continuously. Near the end of the simulation, the large stress concentration and resulting local yielding is clearly visible.
