Pressure Sensors

Clippard, Cincinnati, OH, has expanded the Cordis family with this new transducer line. The piezoresistive silicone pressure sensors can either be used as feedback for the company’s CPC pressure controller or as a standalone transducer. Current optional outputs are 0–5, 0–10, and 0.5–4.5 VDC. The transducers are conditioned and temperature compensated. Calibration is customized specific to the application requirements. Multiple mounting options allow the user to place the sensor downstream or in a remote location from the pressure controller. The manifold mount lends itself well to analytical value-added assemblies. All wetted materials are oxygen compatible, and manifold mounting eliminates any possible contamination during assembly.

The switch is part of its Nimble Sense™ architecture, a system-in-a-sensor, application-specific pressure sensor platform. The three modes include a fixed mode set to the manufacturer’s application, a variable mode 1 that the manufacturer sets during product production, and a variable mode 2 that is field programmable using software, enabling the switch to be adjusted based on the application at that time.

The software offers users new and enhanced features to enable simplified NC programming in applications ranging from 2.5D machining to 5-axis milling. A confocal chromatic measuring system from Micro-Epsilon, Raleigh, NC, is used for fast distance and thickness measurements. The confocalDT is available in different sensor models and controller interfaces. The confocal chromatic measuring principle enables high precision displacement and distance measurements even on diffuse and reflecting surfaces.
