John A. Whitford Corporation, Elverson, PA, manufacturer of the world’s largest, most complete line of fluoropolymer coatings for industrial and consumer industries, has formed a new Medical Coatings Group dedicated to the supply of fluoropolymer coatings for use on medical devices. Construction of the new facility has been completed at the company headquarters, validation work is commencing, and the facility is slated to be fully operational by the end of the 3rd quarter or beginning of the 4th quarter 2015.

Bayer, Leverkusen, Germany, a leading innovator and technology company, opened a plant in San Jose, Costa Rica, to produce a non-reversible permanent contraceptive device. The plant has ISO 13485 certification, which will allow Bayer to market this product in Europe and Canada, as well as FDA approval for sale in the US. This is Bayer’s first medical device site to open in Latin America, although the company has its Central American and Caribbean headquarters in Costa Rica.

GN ReSound, Ballerup, Denmark, a hearing diagnostics equipment maker, is opening a new manufacturing and distribution facility in Johor, Malaysia, which will serve as the central distribution hub for the region.

Medical Excellence Japan, organized to promotethe globalization of Japan’s medical services as public and private partnership, and Toshiba Medical Systems Corporation, Tokyo, Japan, a leading worldwide provider of medical diagnostic imaging systems, have established the Russia-Japan Cardiac Imaging Training Centerin cooperation with I.M.
