A new robotic wheelchair developed at the National Science Foundation is giving disabled people much more independence. The Personal Mobility and Manipulation Appliance, or PerMMA, is equipped with arms controlled by a joystick and an online assistant. It's enabling people to do small things, while making a huge difference in their lives.
