New Yorker Electronics, Northvale, NJ, offers a family of 2- and 3.5-W DC-DC converters for medical applications from Polytron Devices. The 2:1 input range MTWA2 and MTWA4 2- converters feature a low leakage current of 2 μA and offer 5000 VAC input-to-output isolation and 2 × MOPP patient protection — the highest level according to IEC 60601-1 safety standards for electrical medical products. They also offer up to 82 percent efficiency, remote ON/OFF, and a high operating altitude of 5,000 m. Safeguards include overvoltage, short-circuit, and undervoltage protection with no minimum load requirement.

Power Amplifier

Skyworks, Woburn, MA, has introduced a high-efficiency power amplifier (PA) designed for enterprise small cell applications. The SKY66318-11 offers wide instantaneous bandwidth (100 MHz) and is fully input/output matched with high gain and efficiency. On-chip active biasing circuitry is also integrated to compensate for PA performance over temperature, voltage, and process variations. The device comes in a compact 5 × 5 mm package, operates from a single 5-V power supply, and is ideal for 4G LTE and 5G NR systems from 3300 to 3600 MHz. It is also part of major transceiver reference designs.

Point-of-Load Converters

Non-isolated point-of-load converters from Traco Power, San Jose, CA, are designed to standardize on one converter to support multiple applications and bus voltages. TSR 0.6WI and TSR 1WI nonisolated point-of-load converters in the industry standard SIP3 package commonly used by LMxx series linear regulators. Each series consists of seven single output models of 3.3/5/6.5/9/12/15/24 V out capable of 600 mA (TSR 0.6 WI) or 1,000 mA (TSR 1 WI). High efficiency of up to 94 percent enables an operating temperature range of –40 to +80 °C without heatsinking within an SIP3 package.

AC-DC Power Supplies

A series of 120 W ac/dc power supplies is available from Power Partners, Hudson, MA. The PDAM120 features either Class I or Class II input configurations and is designed for use in either medical or ITE applications. The industry standard 2 × 3-in. platform is available in three design options: open-frame, u-channel, and enclosed, with its focus on its high efficiency and high-power density of 15.27 W/in3. It is available in three single output models: 12, 24, and 48 VDC. Each unit features 90–264 VAC input voltage range, no-load power consumption <300 mW, operating temperature range of –30° to +70 °C (with derating), MTBF >250 K hours per MIL-HDBK-217F at full load/25 °C ambient, and weight of 6.4 oz.
