Voice Coil Motor

Moticont, Van Nuys, CA, has added a new high force voice coil motor to its GVCM family of voice coil motors with an internal shaft and bearing. The new GVCM-095-089-03 linear voice coil motor features a continuous force of 63.9 lb (284.1 N) and 202.0 lb (898.4 N) of peak force at a 10 percent duty cycle. Guided by a long-life plain bearing that can allow side loads up to 3 lb (13.5 N), the precision ground 0.236 in. (6.0 mm) diameter shaft with an internal thread has a stroke length of 0.5 in. (12.7 mm). The quiet, efficient, smooth, cog-free motion of this low inertia brushless GVCM-095-089-03 The linear voice coil motor is ideal for medical devices.

Alignment Stages

Optimal Engineering Systems, Inc. (OES), Van Nuys, CA, has introduced two XYR (theta) alignment stages that offer high precision and repeatability. The XYR-01-01 and XYR-01-02 alignment stages features ±7.5 mm of travel in the X and Y axes and ±180O of rotation (theta). The stages feature linear resolutions of the X and Y axis of 0.25μ (microsteps per step motor driver in use); the repeatability of each is 1.5μ, positional accuracy is 5μ, and backlash is 2μ. The 1 mm per-turn ground lead screws and preloaded V-groove and crossed roller bearings adds to the high precision and stiffness of the stages.

Hybrid Hexapod

ALIO Industries, Arvada, CO, has launched a hybrid hexapod for 5 and 6 axis motion performance. The Hybrid Hexapod® is orders of magnitude more precise than traditional hexapods. According to the company, it is 100 times stiffer and 30 times faster, provides excellent path precision, and exhibits 10 times the usable work envelope for the same XYZ travels of a hexapod. It is designed to work with any 6-D motion and precision needs.

High-Power Density Motor

Allied Motion Technologies, Amherst, NY, has released the a new high-power-density motor series. The KinetiMax HPD series is offered in compact stator-rotors sets. They are available in six frame sizes, with three stack-lengths per size and three windings per stack length. The series also features a large stator bore that allows cabling to easily pass through for applications such as robotic joints. Other highlights include compact frameless stator-rotor sets featuring outer-rotor design; large diameter, short stack length; and large stator bore to allow cabling to easily pass through. They also feature high torque-to-weight ratio and a temperature sensor mounted on the stator.
