The LumiBright™ UV-LED Light Engines feature UV die arrays bonded on MCPCB substrates that enhance thermal performance for high-current-density operation. The specialized primary optic is a non-imaging concentrator made from fused silica, ideal for high-power UV flux. With active cooling, the model 2400B-405 model can emit greater than 20 W from a 7.5 mm diameter clear aperture with a 0.66 numerical aperture (NA). Model 2400B-505 can produce more than 10 W of radiant flux from a 5 mm diameter clear aperture with 0.60 NA. They are available with wavelengths centered near 365, 385, 395, and 405 nm.

Linear Stepper Motor

Nippon Pulse, Radford, VA, has launched its smallest linear stepper motor to date. The PFL20 Linearstep is a highly efficient, high thrust tin-can linear actuator with a 20-mm diameter and a bipolar winding. The RoHS-compliant motor has a 30/60 mm effective stroke and can reach 6 N of force at 200 pps. With 24 steps per revolution, the lead screw has a 1.2 mm thread pitch; the PFL20 also reaches 5V rated voltage, resistance of 33 Ω/phase and inductance of 12 mH/phase. The motor is also available in 25 mm (captive or noncaptive option) and 35mm diameter.

Touch Panels

A series of customizable, flush-surface resistive touch panels is available from Fujitsu Components America, San Jose, CA. The panels offer less than half the input force of conventional resistive panels, nearly identical to that of projected capacitive panels. The FID-1300 (4-wire) and FID-1520 (5-wire) series touch panels support a minimum input force of 0.02N (0.45 typical) while maintaining reliable user input and smooth sliding and flicking operations. A variety of implements can be used to activate touch input, including bare skin, gloved fingers, wet fingers, pens, or stylus pens.
