Optical Distance Sensor

A highly accurate optical distance sensor is available from Werth Messtechnik, Giessen, Germany. The Werth Chromatic Focus Point sensor can measure dimensional, shape, and positional deviations at high point density. A large measurement range, up to 6 mm, allows for rapid scanning, because the sensor does not need to track along the surface in order to maintain contact. Alternatively, controlled scanning with automatic tracking of the workpiece surface is also possible for severe deviations from the prescribed path. Flatness, warping, and distortion of surfaces can be measured quickly and highly accurately, with probing errors as low as 0.25 μm in the Z direction.

DC-DC Converter

Featuring an excellent power density of 26 W/in3, an SIP9 packaged, 5-W rated converter from XP Power, Singapore, occupies 65 percent less PCB area than similar products. Its very low 2 μA leakage current makes it ideal for medical BF and CF applications. Approved for worldwide IEC 60601-1 medical applications, the IMM05 features a 2:1 input range, 1500 VAC isolation, and 1 X MOPP at 250 Vrms. The converter operates over a temperature range of –20 to +100 °C, with a full load capability to 60 °C. It draws a low standby current of just 2.5 mA when inhibited, with standard control and protection features including remote on/off, output short circuit, and overload protection.
