Laird Technologies, Inc., Earth City, MO, BL600 modules make it easy to add single-mode Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), or Bluetooth Smart™, to small, portable, power-conscious devices, including those powered by AAA or coin cell batteries. The fully approved, programmable modules feature Laird’s smartBASIC programming interface, which encapsulates the process of reading, writing, and processing of sensor data and then using BLE to transfer it to any Bluetooth v4.0 device, accelerating initial development, creation of prototypes, and mass production.

Based on the award winning Nordic Semiconductor nRF51822 system-on-a-chip, BL600 modules combine low power consumption with outstanding wireless range, and incorporate the hardware and firmware needed to support development of BLE applications, including: GATT-based BLE profiles that include blood pressure, heart rate, thermometer, and support for custom profiles.

Each compact BL600 module, with an integrated antenna, antenna connector, or trade pads for an external antenna, is suitable for even the smallest devices. BL600 modules are fully qualified as Bluetooth End Products, enabling designers to integrate the modules in devices without the time and expense of recertification. A low-cost developer's kit including simple software tools make it easy for an OEM to integrate the module.
