The EC 90 flat motor from Maxon Motor (Fall River, MA) is now equipped with the EC 90 flat MILE (Maxon’s Inductive Little Encoder), offering precision with resolutions of up to 3,200 impulses per turn, and a high nominal torque of 175 mNm. It operates on the detection of high-frequency inductivity, which generates eddy current in an electrically conducting target. The advantage of this method of measurement includes high speed, high robustness toward dust or oil vapor, and insensitivity against interference pulses such as PWM controllers or motor magnets.
