The Renata Batteries (Dallas, TX) division of The SWATCH Group has developed a line of 0% mercury silver oxide batteries suitable for powering medical devices including insulin pumps, glucose meters, and surgical tools. The mercury-free batteries are useful for complying with state laws that make it illegal to sell devices powered by battery button cells that contain mercury.
