Delcam Healthcare (Birmingham, UK) has launched new versions of its OrthoModel and OrthoMill software for the design and manufacture of custom orthotic insoles. Used in conjunction with the iQube 3D scanner, data can be captured directly from the patient’s foot, either in weight-on, weight-off, or semi-weight-bearing modes, or it can be used to scan casts or foam-box impressions. Users can specify a number of cross-sections across the sole of the foot and fine tune the profile of the orthotic at each section to find a match. The software includes support for 64-bit operation, multi-threading, and background processing.
