Teknor Apex (Pawtucket, RI) has developed thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) compounds that feature double the adhesive strength of standard TPEs when overmolded onto high-density polyethylene (HDPE) substrates, according to the company. The technology will be used to custom-compound TPEs in the Medalist® range of medical-grade elastomers. In a 180° peel adhesion test, the TPEs featured a median adhesion/peel strength of 42.086 pounds per linear inch.
