Momentive Performance Materials (Albany, NY) offers a family of silicone gels for medical device manufacturing that features dampening properties, shock absorbency, long-term compressibility, and high oxygen and moisture permeability. The gels are hypoallergenic, breathable, repositionable, soft, and biocompatible. Potential applications include scar management, respiratory or facemasks, and surgical or patient positioning devices.

Also available is StatSil elastomer that provides antimicrobial properties in silicone-based elastomers, and the LSR7000 family of transparent liquid silicone rubbers that provide high optical clarity for applications in endoscopic devices, catheters, and respiratory components.
