In honor of International Women in Engineering Day (June 23), what device did American nurse Letitia Mumford Geer invent in 1896?

The one-handed medical syringe. Geer thought that the syringes being manufactured were difficult to use because they were often imprecise and unsanitary. Her syringe design had a detachable needle, a rubber plunger, and a cylindrical glass barrel. The rubber plunger could draw fluids into the syringe. Source: www.wikipedia.com
