Washdown Gearmotor
Bison, St. Charles, IL, has enhanced its washdown gearmotor line. Changes to the SANIMotor are designed to maximize throughput and reduce lead times. All the original exterior dimensions, performance specifications, certifications, mounting holes, and power cable connections remain the same. In addition to the IP69K rating, all exterior components are manufactured from 304 stainless steel. The output shaft is also 304 stainless steel and supported by sealed ball bearings. The gearmotor's laser marked permanent nameplate meets extreme washdown rating.

Direct Drive Motors
Precision motors are available from Nippon Pulse Radford, VA. The lightweight, powerful MDx series of direct-drive AC servo motors contain an integral, high-resolution optical encoder and robust, high-load bearings in a compact design that provides higher torque-to-weight ratios than similar diameter rotary servo motors. The direct-drive capability offers excellent backdrivability for haptic feedback in leader-follower control. Capable of quick movement and fast settle times, the direct-drive motor can swiftly react to the next move command in the motion profile. The series is available in a variety of sizes (13–70 mm) and multiple stack-lengths. Both standard (MDS) and hollow-shaft (MDH) options can be customized to meet exact requirements. Customizations include special shaft arrangements, alternate mounting options, anodized surfaces, and encoder resolutions.

Brushless DC Motors
Portescap, West Chester, PA, offers brushless DC motors for use in cardiovascular markets. The Ultra ECTM platform provides traditional BLDC features as well as very high torque or very high speed. The proprietary U coil provides outstanding performance, including minimal iron losses, better efficiency, and cooler operation. The unique coil design allows two-pole motors, for example, to deliver 30 percent more torque compared to the same size electric brushless dc motor using a conventional coil design. ECS brushless mini motors are tailored for high-speed, direct-drive applications. Designs can reach mechanical powers such as 180 W continuously at 50,000 rpm. ECT multipolar motors offer extreme torque at low speed.

Servomotors
A new line of servomotors from Siemens, Nuremberg, Germany, is designed for the clean condition requirements of sterile packaging, pharmaceutical, and other process industries. The SIMOTICS S-1FS2 servomotors are offered in a variety of power ratings, from 0.45 to 2 kW (0.60–2.68 hp) with torque from 3.1 to 14 Nm (2.28–10.32 ft-lbs.). Crafted with housings of 1.4404 (AISI 316/316L) stainless steel, EPDM seals, and bearing grease with NSF H1 approval, the servomotors are highly resistant to corrosion and acidic chemicals found in the process industries. This extremely high degree of protection is in accordance with IP66/67 standards on the entire motor, with IP69k (30-bar) protection provided on the motor housing.
