A new radioisotope fume hood from HEMCO, Independence, MO, is engineered to meet the strict requirements for lab work involving radiochemicals. The hood is constructed with a welded one-piece seamless type 304 stainless steel interior fume chamber with all corners coved for easy cleaning. The work surface is welded to the fume chamber liner and is reinforced to support weight loads associated to isotope work such as lead barriers and equipment. LED lighting and vertical slide tempered glass sash are standard. The fume hoods are offered in 48, 60, and 72 in. widths and can be outfitted with accessories such as service fixtures, electrical service options, and exhaust blowers.

Custom Taping

Diversified Ulbrich, Woodbridge, ON, Canada, has added a custom-built taping machine to provide improved processing capabilities to customers. Applying adhesive tape to sheet metal protects the surface from damage due to abrasions or debris during laser cutting, stamping, and other secondary processing. It also keeps the metal safe during storage and transport. The high-speed, high-precision tape line allows equipment operators to instantaneously change tape rolls with a speed-loading mechanism. This mechanism is essentially a carousel filled with various tape rolls, each ready to be launched into the machine and begin covering sheet metal. Previously, two operators had to hand feed coiled metal into the machine.

Bosch Rexroth, Hoffman Estates, IL, offers linear modules for small handling applications with its new SHB and SHL models. These modules are suitable for lighter load applications, such as in medical labs. Simple USB-to-laptop connectivity enables easy monitoring and controlling. The SHL lead screw-driven module is designed for light-load, low-cost applications. Made with a 55-mm-wide aluminum frame, the SHL module comes with the option of a motor and controller or just the motor, depending on the requirements. The SHB belt-driven module offers stroke lengths up to 2 m and load capacities up to 110 lbs. centered. It measures 40 mm wide and has a repeatability of <20 μm.

Dispensing System

Nordson Electronic Solutions, Carlsbad, CA, offers a system for dispensing single-component (1K) thermal interface materials. The system integrates the ASYMTEK Helios® SD-960 series fluid dispensing platform with the company’s new FS-EP1 fluid supply/feeding system one-gallon pail pump. The FS-EP1 pail pump pushes material to the dispense valve using a closed-hydraulic system. Low shearing of the material ensures that highly conductive thermal gap fillers do not separate, and material properties remain unaffected. There are no moving parts in contact with the gap filler, and no moving parts outside the pump enclosure, not even in the fluid line.
