EpoxySet, Woonsocket, RI, offers a light-activated chemistry that allows for fast processing. Flashbond UV-5608DC also allows for fixturing of parts even if both parts are opaque. The one-part epoxy is blue-light activated from 365 to 405 nm with an intensity of about 150 mW/cm2 for 5–10 sec. Parts are then mated together and aligned within 45–60 sec of activation. The adhesive yields green strength after 30 min for handling. Full cure occurs over the next 16 hours at room temperature.
