Optical Distance Sensor
A highly accurate optical distance sensor is available from Werth Messtechnik, Giessen, Germany. The Werth Chromatic Focus Point sensor can measure dimensional, shape, and positional deviations at high point density. A large measurement range, up to 6 mm, allows for rapid scanning, because the sensor does not need to track along the surface in order to maintain contact. Alternatively, controlled scanning with automatic tracking of the workpiece surface is also possible for severe deviations from the prescribed path. Flatness, warping, and distortion of surfaces can be measured quickly and highly accurately, with probing errors as low as 0.25 μm in the Z direction.
