Laser Engraving Machine

Laser Photonics, Lake Mary, FL, has released an industrial-grade laser engraving machine that has been designed specifically for 3D mark and 3D engraving. The Canyon™ family incorporates high wattage fiber or CO lasers with a proprietary combination of high-energy pulses for deeper material penetration. The systems are specifically designed for high-speed metal removal with no remelting while performing enhanced 3D image details. Updated software offers tablet operation capabilities. The engraving machine supports both circumferential and flat deep engraving applications or with the rotary motor removed, larger flat deep engraving requirements. It operates under high vibration, shock, and dust conditions.

MEMS Pressure Sensor

ACEINNA Inc., Andover, MA, has launched a bidirectional differential pressure sensor designed for CPAP, breath detection, room pressure, damper control, flow hood, fume hood, filter monitoring, and other applications. The MDP200 is ideal for applications where ultra-low differential pressure performance is required. The pressure sensor is based on the MEMS thermal accelerometer platform. The ultrasensitive MEMS thermal technology enables the sensor to detect minute changes in flow induced by differential pressure. The suspended bridge microstructure inside the sensor allows it to reliably detect pressure changes from a range of 0.016 to 500 Pascal.

Linear Robot Actuators

A multi-axis electric linear robot actuator for either x-z or x-y motion applications has been released by Bimba, University Park, IL. Employing a two-axis system, IntelliAxis™ features a single continuous belt that serpentines around the two axes, eliminating the need for a motor in the z- or y-axis while driving a pair of coordinated motors in the x-axis. These configurations, known as T-bot and H-bot, allow synchronized control for complex motion movement profiles such as circles, ellipses, and sine waves. The linear robot actuator is intended for medium- and heavy-duty two-axis industrial applications that require flexible motion within a two-dimensional plane such as pick and place, sorting, loading, assembly, and other material handling tasks. A patented ARC Power Self-Tracking timing belt is steel-reinforced and provides motion in both axes.

3D Printer

Cubibot, San Diego, CA, has released a cloud-based 3D printer. The W-Fi enabled printer includes a heated print bed and easy-to-use Web-based software as well as smart status notification with a multicolor LED. Features include filtered ventilation for safer use, a refillable premium filament cartridge, and the ability to print with advanced materials such as nylon and polycarbonate. It easily handles a variety of different materials, including ABS, PLA, specialty PLA such as wood and carbon fiber, nylon, and flexible material, which are installed into the printer via a refillable filament cartridge. The printer can be remotely controlled via Cubibot Android and iOS apps. Housed in a 10-in. cubed footprint, it produces a print size of 5 in. cubed. The plug-and-play unit needs no prior 3D printing experience.
