DeTek™ functional color concentrates from Teknor Apex, Pawtucket, RI, contain small traces of an anti-counterfeit marker, or taggant, that enables plastics manufacturers to ensure product safety and supply chain integrity with no effect on color quality or product performance. Used at standard letdown ratios in a wide range of thermoplastics, the color concentrates help brand owners protect from incursions by seemingly identical fake products. The taggants respond to special detection equipment, but are difficult for fraudulent manufacturers to identify or copy.
