Galil Motion Control (Rocklin, CA) has introduced two multi-axis servo drives that perform sinusoidal commutation: the AMP-43540, which contains four 600 Watt servo drives, and the AMP-43640, which contains 20 Watt servo drives. Both models are sinusoidally commutated, which minimizes torque ripple compared to drives using trapezoidal commutation. They are suitable for applications using low friction linear motors. The drives are designed to minimize space, cost, and wiring, and they reside directly inside the controller enclosure. The packaging of the 4-axis drive inside the motion controller enclosure saves space compared to using external drives.
