The ACT series linear-servomotor-driven actuator from Aerotech (Pittsburgh, PA) offers accelerations of 5g and a top speed of 5 m/s. The nonmagnetic forcer coil provides high force with zero cogging for smooth velocity and position control, and is suitable for applications requiring contour accuracy and smooth velocity profiling. The linear motor has zero backlash, no windup, zero friction, and system responsiveness. The magnetic field is self-contained within the U-channel design. For OEMs requiring user-defined cable management, cable pigtail and bulkhead termination options are available.
