Sunday, January 01 2012
Pro-Dex (Irvine, CA) offers miniature air
motors for medical, robotic, and industrial use
with stall torques from 2.8 in-oz to 1200 in-oz
and free speeds of 7 RPM to 40,000 RPM. They
feature a ¾" diameter barrel to fit into tighter
spaces than other motors. Since
it is air-driven, it does not
require expensive Class 1,
Division 1 electrical
components.

Integrated DC/DC Converter
Posted in Products, Electronics on
Sunday, January 01 2012
iC-Haus GmbH (Bodenheim, Germany) offers a 4-
36 V buck/boost DC/DC converter with two programmable
voltages ranging from 1.5V to 5.5V for the compact
voltage supply of industrial sensors and small subsystems.
It achieves a residual ripple of typically 10
mVpp – suitable for the supply of precision analog circuits.
The buck/boost switching converter technology
used here makes any distinction between devices supplied
with 5V or 10-30V unnecessary, as a steady +5V
supply is provided for sensor electronics. The two independently
adjustable output voltages Vcc1 and Vcc2 can provide a total of 300 mA and supply
digital and analog circuit components separately. The switching converter typically operates at
3 MHz, reducing the size of the external coil to approx. 2 mm × 2 mm and that of the external
back-up capacitors to a few microfarads while adhering to the EMC requirement for industrial
sensors.

Digital Oscilloscopes
Posted in Products, Monitoring & Testing on
Sunday, January 01 2012
Rohde & Schwarz (Columbia, MD) has
developed the R&S®RTO Series of advanced
digital oscilloscopes that feature low frontend
noise to allow the analysis of extremely
small signals. The scope provides a gain range
of one-millivolt per division and also provides
overdrive recovery to eliminate distortion and
ensure high signal fidelity. It is suitable for
biomedical measurements based on its low
noise front-end performance and A/D converter
to deliver accurate signal acquisition.
The scope uses a real-time digital trigger that
does not need to re-arm, which means that
every sample can trigger data acquisition,
avoiding missed events.

Keylock Switches
Posted in Products, Mechanical Components on
Sunday, January 01 2012
NKK Switches (Scottsdale, AZ) has introduced the
CKM Series of high security keylock switches for panel
mount applications. The switches feature high reliability
due to a vertically rotating switching mechanism, selfcleaning,
sliding, and silver contacts, and epoxy-sealed
solder lug terminals. Keys are available in flat or tubular
styles, with flat keys being reversible for easier setting.
They are rated at 3A@250VAC, and have a dielectric
strength of 1,500 volts between contacts and case. They
are constructed of fiberglass reinforced PBT insulation material and can withstand 15 kilovolts
of electrostatic discharge.
