Mutation Detection Kit

Posted in Products, Inspection Equipment on Monday, March 01 2010

Transgenomic (Omaha, NE) has introduced the SURVEY-OR Scan K-RAS kit, a mutation detection kit that features the SURVEYOR Nuclease and WAVE® HS DHPLC platform. It uses PCR amplification reaction and hybridization to form heteroduplex DNA molecules in samples with K-RAS mutation. K-RAS mutation status is a strong predictor of resitstance to cancer treatment. The kit detects mutations by enzymatic cleavage at mutation sites, and identifies all known and unknown mutations in both K-RAS coding exons. It also includes control templates for common mutation sites (codons 12, 13, and 61), and offers high analytic sensitivity, detecting 1% of K-RAS mutant in a background of wild-type genomic DNA. It can be applied to formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissues.
